Privacy Policy
Effective 16 September 2026
This policy explains how Free Online Quizzes handles information when you use freeonlinequizzes.com or the Free Online Quizzes mobile apps for iOS and Android. You can play ordinary quizzes without creating an account.
1. Information we collect
Account information
If you choose to sign in with Google or Apple, we receive the account identifier, email address and display name made available by that provider. We also store any leaderboard username you choose.
Quiz and multiplayer activity
For signed-in players, we store aggregate quiz scores, monthly scores and leaderboard position. Multiplayer rooms can store the room code, chosen player name, answers, score, completion time and timestamps. Anonymous multiplayer players use a randomly generated guest identifier stored on their device; it is not an advertising identifier.
Language, region and technical data
We process your selected language, country code supplied by our network provider, IP address for security and rate limiting, request timestamps, and limited device or diagnostic information supplied by our authentication and infrastructure providers.
Website cookies and analytics
The website uses cookies needed for sessions and preferences. It may use privacy-conscious audience measurement and Google Analytics where permitted. The mobile apps do not contain an advertising SDK and do not use this website analytics setup.
Advertising
The website displays advertising served by Journey by Mediavine ("Mediavine"), a programmatic advertising partner. Mediavine and its demand partners may set cookies and use device identifiers, IP address and browsing data to select and measure ads, including personalised ads where you have consented. In the EEA, UK and Switzerland, ads are only personalised after you accept through the consent banner shown on your first visit, and you can withdraw or change that choice at any time through the banner's own settings or by clearing the site's cookies, which shows the banner again on your next visit. Elsewhere, you can opt out of personalised ads through your browser or device settings.
Mediavine's privacy policy, including the list of its advertising partners, is at mediavine.com/privacy-policy. The mobile apps do not show Mediavine ads.
2. How we use information
- To authenticate accounts and keep profiles available across devices.
- To provide quizzes, multiplayer rooms, scores and leaderboards.
- To secure the service, prevent abuse and apply request limits.
- To diagnose failures and improve reliability and usability.
- To meet legal obligations and enforce our terms.
3. AI-generated quiz content
Quiz category, difficulty and language are sent to our AI service provider to generate questions. We do not intentionally include your account name, email address, leaderboard profile or device identifier in those prompts. AI-generated questions can occasionally be inaccurate; do not treat quiz content as professional medical, legal or financial advice.
4. Information visible to other players
Your chosen username and score may appear on public leaderboards. If you have not chosen a username, the website may show a masked version of your email address. Players in a multiplayer room can see your chosen room name, status, score and completion time. We do not sell personal information.
5. Service providers and disclosures
We use service providers to operate the service, including Google Firebase for authentication and data storage, Google and Apple for sign-in, OpenAI for quiz generation, and hosting, email, security and network providers. They process information under their own terms and our instructions where applicable.
We may disclose information when required by law, to protect users or the service, or as part of a business transfer subject to appropriate safeguards. We do not share personal information for cross-app advertising.
6. Retention and deletion
Account profiles and aggregate scores are retained while the account remains active. Operational, security and multiplayer records are retained only as reasonably necessary to operate and protect the service, troubleshoot failures and meet legal obligations.
Deleting your account removes the profile, leaderboard scores and multiplayer records tied to your account, and anonymises your identifier in shared room records that must remain for other players. Backup and security-log copies may persist for a limited period before automatic deletion or may be retained where legally required.
7. Your choices and rights
- You can change your leaderboard name from your profile.
- You can play ordinary quizzes without signing in.
- You can permanently delete your account from the You tab in the mobile app.
- If you no longer have the app, follow the instructions on our account deletion page.
- Depending on where you live, you may ask to access, correct, delete or receive a copy of personal information, or object to certain processing.
8. Security and international processing
We use reasonable administrative and technical safeguards, including encrypted network connections and provider access controls. No online service can guarantee absolute security. Our providers may process information in countries other than yours using legally recognised safeguards where required.
9. Children's privacy
The service is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from a child under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal information, contact us so it can be removed.
10. Changes and contact
We may update this policy as the service changes. The effective date above identifies the latest revision.
Questions or privacy requests can be sent to [email protected]. Please do not send passwords or identity documents unless we specifically request them through a secure channel.
